Sometimes compact cameras do a better job, as is well illustrated by this very fine picture of mating Grasshoppers on a wide green leaf, Ivan.
The colour of the subjects goes well with the green of the leaf and is very soothing to look at.
Thanks for showing this lovely picture from summertime.

very fine POV, DOF and the way they are framed, superb focus
sharpness and details, i think we have already written to each other,
sometimes (and i would say more often) compacts do better
macro photos than DSLRs, great job of your Canon PowerShot G9,

Hi Ivan,
they really are hard to see most of the time but are good subjects: if you approach from the right angle you can go pretty close with the cam - as I see you did that too. I had some images of this species too (but I think I haven't posted yet) so I can add Hungary to their location list, although I think they might be pretty wide spread across Europe.
Imaged the moment well with nice natural colors. TFS!

This summer I have pictured almost the same species (I think) on the leaf. You managed to catch lovely pair. Exactness of derails of the insects and the leaf are exceptional.
