Hi Paul,
I can imagine that this was a special moment to watch. I wouldn't mind seeing it and than be able to make such a great photo of it. I like the moment you've captured showing still the folded wings but also what it will soon be. The details in the cocoon and butterfly are great and I really like the soft light and soft BG.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Paul,
What an impressing picture of this Monarch!!! As you said about my Popler Borer, the light is perfectly managed without any highlights reflection on the butterfly and on the empty cocoon. The dark and blurred bg enhances so well the subject. I'm pretty sure you have plenty of beautiful pictures of moments following this one. The pov took is perfect in order to obtain this nice symmetry of the wings.
Very impressing picture you can be proud of!
I thought that Monarches "hatches" in North America. Obvioulsy I'm wrong and I didn't know that some Asclepias was good for Monarches' caterpillars in Honduras...
Cheers,
Michel

Hello Paul,
A picture for a book of Natural History with perfect timing, beautiful colors and excellent sharpness. I also appreciate that we can see so well the transparency of the cocoon and the starting moment of expanding the wings. Must have beeen fascinating to watch it.

Hi Paul,
you like to make a definitive statement with your shots. This one is a good example: with one single picture you explain to the viewer the whole metamorphic process of a butterfly. Look at the chrysalid skin left, the tracheae, the not-yet -unfolded wings. A master piece!
Best regards
