[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The male has a blue abdomen with a black tip and transparent wings, and the female has a yellowish brown body with black zigzag marks along the abdomen and the transparent wings. This species has expanded its range, assisted by the creation of gravel pits which give it the extensive open unvegetated areas it prefers. It was first recorded in Great Britain in Essex in 1934.it is decreasing rapidly from the Maltese islands.

Hello Ian,
A lovely clear capture of the female Black-tailed Skimmer showing it in a fine posse and sharply in focus. Great details and beautiful colours too and I like the natural background.
TFS and best regards, Ulla
