[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The green-veined white female is a common butterfly, widespread in the UK, and also here in Norway. One of the primary food sources is Cardamine pratensis, which is a very abundant plant in this area. The nectar sources are Ragged Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi), Vetches (Vicia spp.), Buttercups (Ranunculus spp.), Red Campion (Silene dioica) as well as Cardamine paratensis, so there is no shortage of food for adults as these flower are to be found everywhere.

She was resting in a small sheltered grassy pocket, where there was little or no wind - unusual here in this part of Norway, and so I was very lucky that she remained still enough to photograph. I have to say that I was surprised to see these blue compound eyes when I downloaded the photo!

Hello amelia,

youre my neighbour to day.
This one good pov but a little to busy in the bg.
The butterfly are good of sharpness but a pity the grasses are sitting before the wings.
I know you need a little patience to make a good capture and i am some hours busy to take good picture.
Fine natural colours.

Gert

Hello Amelia,
very well seen in splendid sharpness of this butterfly. The composition by the grasses is lovely and so graphical.
clarity is well documented and excellently presented with the head so special.
Well thought shot.

Regards,
Foozi

Hej Amelia,
You have managed to capture this male pieris napi in difficult circumstances. The Bg is busy and even though you have taken a POV with a fairly clear view there are still blades of grass in the way.
However where in focus the details of the butterfly are sharply shown in good lighting and this in my view is worth the credit.
The composition is too central for the POV. As the butterfly faces to the right it is good to reduce space on the left and increase it in the direction it is facing so the at the image complies to the rule of thirds. Of course composition is a matter of taste and there are many ways of bending this rule with a fine result, but this may help you.
Thanks and kind regards.

Hello Amelia,
You already made me participate in the difficult conditions to photograph butterflies in your area. Then I want to congratulate strongly for this macro! Bravo! ... you've find a space between the wind to make a good photo of this P. napi! The exposure level is very good, the POV is a bit complex but efficient, the environment show very well the difficulty for the shot. I think you can improve a little the composition, placing the butterfly near to the left third of the photographic plane. Either way, it is a great macro, made under adverse conditions but well accomplished! Congratulations again! TFS, regards, Jesús

hello amelia, very good composition between grasses and butterfly...well done...thank you...

Hi Amelia, very very difficult position and difficult pic! But you work very well, excellent sharpness and focus on the eye and a soft background too. Thanks for share, have a nice day,Luciano

Nice to meet you Amelia! So hard POV for this small one into the grass. Good details on butterfly's head and intrigant transparencies.
