[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have seen Barbary Ground Squirrels Atlantoxerus getulus during my visit in Morocco a few times, mostly in Atlas Mountains. This rodents live in shrubland and rocky places. Often seen as running across the road before the car. Species is endemic to Morocco, Algeria and Western Sahara.

Here on a Kasbah hill Agadir Oufella, many of these curious squirrels 'disturbing' my attention while I was taking photos of plants. Unfortunately I haven't got telelens, so this photo is a crop.

I was told, that Berber people in Atlas Mts. catch these squirrels and make traditional meal 'tajine' using its meat.

nice creature, TFS Ori

Hi Michal,
excellent shot, all up to par. The attitude of the animal is nice. And I learn a lot about mammals in Northern Africa. Thanks for the interesting note, too.
Best regards
