|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|This is an image of a male skipper (the one on the right that is in flight) courting a female skipper (the one sitting on the flower) that was taken at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. The female was resting on the flower vibrating her wings very rapidly. Each time she began to vibrate them, a number of males would gather and begin flying around her. As soon as she would stop vibrating, the males would leave to rest on nearby leaves or flowers. |
The following link is for a youtube video that shows the courtship in slow motion. If you have a minute, it is probably worth taking a look at.
P.S. Sorry that this is not a hyperlink. If anyone knows how to make this an actual link, could you please let me know. Thanks.

Excellent shot! This double capture of lovely skipper are wonderful! Very sharp details and lovely natural colors.
Congratulation for the skipper in fly!Is not easy to do that!
Excellent timing on this one. Sharpness is excellent as well, your shutter speed has frozen the action nicely. A pitty that you've croped the posterior one. Still, a great capture.
TFS and have a nice night!
this is quite unusual, you got one skipper resting on the flower and another one in the landing gears, very nicely done,
tfs & regards
Matthew, this is a beautiful shot. Thanks for your comment on my little hummer. Have a great day, Bill
