Dear friends,

One of the many rules in Etosha National Park is the following: when you want to shoot an animal, first you ask it whether or not it is after the points in TrekNature.
I always go with the flow and so I asked this rat with the big tail the above question.
That's when the laughter started.

You guys believed me he...
No, actually this rat with tail happens to be a Ground squirrel captured in the middle of a scratch session.

About Ground squirrels...
They may carry fleas that transmit diseases to humans.
They are capable of climbing but spend little time in trees.
They have two continuously growing incisors in the upper and lower jaws which must be kept short by gnawing. Happens to be a good image to view this.
It belongs to the same order as the rats. Order rodentia. From Latin, rodere, to gnaw.

Thanks. And have a nice day...

Hallo Annick
Whether this one is for the points or not, it was a must and I for one enjoyed this view tremendously. Oh man, this is the kind of image that has a lot of ooh's and ahh's and definitely a lot of laughter that surrounds it. But in the end it is just proof of a great photographer that took the opportunity and clicked away and brought forth a stunning and most comical image that many would appreciate, I being one. Besides the humour that we see, we also see a super sharp image with details seen with great clarity. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hi Annick,

Great capture Annick. Very amusing looking pose.

Hin Annick,
Wat een geweldige foto. De timing is perfect. Weer eens flink gelachen om je tekst. Prachtige scherpte, laag standpunt en super diepte in de foto. Erg mooie natuurlijke kleuren.

Hi Annick,

A very interesting action shot of this ground squirrel. Great composition and detail and captured at just the right time.

Unique shot Annick, the animals expression and pose is priceless.
The image makes one smile, and establishes an immediate connection with the viewer. The stuff FG RT doesn't bother at all.
And "priceless" is what it's about after all is said and done..
Well done!!

Hello Annick,
A lucky, but great capture of this scratching squirrel

Hello Annick,
What a unique moment you managed to capture for all to enjoy. From the expression on his face his scratching must feel pretty good, he seems to be grinning from ear to ear. Excellent detail and beautiful natural coloration. Well done!!

Only one word can describe this one: MARVELOUS!!!
Notes: "Kiss" principle. EXCELLENT!!!
"Keep it sweet and simple".
10 out of 10!!!
Mario with warm regards from COLD COLD Canada.

Hello Annick,
Fantastic, funny photo.Super sharpness.

Hi Annick
A little to the left...oh....there...that's the spot. What a great facial expression you captured on this little ground squirrel. Animals always seem more interesting it they are doing something out of the ordinary, you captured this little guy doing just that. Well done.
TFS Janice
I would sooner run into this cute little guy than a grizzly any day, unless of course I was to pick up fleas. LOL
