SATYRUS FERULA

Great Sooty Satyr
Weisskernauge
Pupillé

Family: Satyrinae
Size: 50-60mm
Flighttime: June to August, one generation
Altitude: 400-1800m

This specimen is a female. I saw a few of these impressive butterflies flying around in a rather stony environment. By their big size, these Satyrinae are among the bigger butterflies of the alpine area.
It's the first time I show this species, I had lost my former shots in my computer-crash.

Bonjour Anne,
A fine macro of this large Satyrid species, a female S. ferula feeding on a red clover flower in the closed wing position. The lateral POV shows its features with excellent sharpness and natural colours against a fine neutral BG. The composition is pleasing too.
Ivan

Hello Anne,
What a beautiful species with large black eye spots on the underside of the forewing. This is new to me and your capture is very nice! I like its pose on the pretty red clover and the fine sharp details. The background matches nicely too!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Bonsoir Anne
amicalement
Laurent

Good morning Mother:)

A fine capture of nature at its best. This lady Satyr is in excellent focus, and the colorful flower is both nice and well composed. Good use of shallow DOF.
TFS and have a nice day!
Cheers,

Bayram

Liebe Anne,

Peter
