Hi Asbed,
well... yes... golden light... Early in the morning, at sunrise, or late in the afternoon, before sun is going down... Warm sunlight which gives a typical atmosphere... It also gives shadows, reflections things that any photographer should exploit at the maximum... Just like you did in this beautifully colored photo, with great sharpness and very good compo...

Nice photo of this mallard in evening light. For me it's a bit dark. By usings shadows in photoshop you can lighten up the photo a bit without losing the atmophere. Good POV and composition.

Les réflexions sur l'eau sont des atouts à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs du canard colvert mâle. Tu as bien saisi l'oeil du canard et les couleurs ressortent bien. Bonne journée.

I can sense the excitment you have for your hopefully new camera of the future, the Nikon Coolpix P7000. In the mean time this is a great shot of this drake mallard in, as you say, the golden light. The lighting creates a magical atmosphere of it's own, which I find most appealing. Well done!!

We are in waiting for your shots taken with P7000. I can imagine what these pictures will be. However, present shots are also amazing and this one is not exception. Lights and warm colours are really wonderful as well as pose and details of the bird. Perfect job. Bravo and TFS.

I had never heard the term "golden light" before but it is beautiful and it certainly is golden. The Mallard is lovely. I love the water with the gentle ripples and the wonderful golden reflection.

The semi-pro photographer you mention was right: this is one of the most beautiful types of light. Exceptional image, beautiful composition, lights and sharpness. Bravo. Probably the best photo of you 'til now - and yes, sometimes you can do pro-looking images even with a simple compact camera. I wish you good luck for the new one though.
