From Chasseral (1'607 m a.s.l., see Map):

There were quite a lot of these Piedmont ringlets (Lepidoptera; Satyridae; Erebia meolans de Prunner 1798; Gelbbindiger Mohrenfalter) flying on top of the Chasseral, the highest point of the Jura mountains.

ID: Erebia species are a mine field for the correct ID. In this case I was helped by the book of T. Tolman & R. Lewington, but also by the "Centre suisse pour la cartographie de la faune" in Neuchâtel (www.cscf.ch). I add a picture of the underside in the workshop area. If somebody does not agree with the ID, please tell me. The species may be a "first" on TN.

Hello Dietrich,
A fine capture of Erebia meolans, the WS showing the underside suggesting that this is not the nominate ssp.
The features are well shown with fine sharpness and natural colours.
Thanks and kind regards,
