Excellent macro of the Crane Fly, George.
Why is there the bluish tinge and what is the stuff the fly is sitting on?

A superb macro of what I think is a species of Dance Fly, Empididae. The sharpness, colourful BG provided by the flower that it is on, the sharpness, DOF, good use of flash and composition make this an image up to professional standards.

I wonder if the bloom is an Orchid?!? I am growing Orchids and most photographs of them show this sort of ''spongy'' surface...
