A well known bug with sexy stockings… ;)

Carpocoris fuscispinus (Boheman, 1851) sensu Ribes et al. 2007
Syn. : Carpocoris mediterraneus mediterraneus (Tamanini, 1958), Carpocoris mediterraneus atlanticus (Tamanini, 1958)
Family : Pentatomidae
Common names: Red Shield Bug [En], Pentatome meridional [Fr], Chinche mediterránea [Es]

This Eurasian shieldbug is a polyphagous vegetarian which feeds on Asteraceae, Umbelliferae, etc.
It has a reddish color (many variations) and 4 black divergent marks spreading from the head part and following on the pronotum. Antennas are black and legs reddish.
The humeral angles of pronotum are sharply pointed or rounded, protruding more or less (depending on the whole eco-geographical phenotype). The black spot on them is massive, with its internal edge convex.
Ribes has recently synonymized C. mediterraneus mediterraneus (Tamanini, 1958), C. m. atlanticus (Tamanini, 1958), with C. fuscispinus (Boheman, 1851). Some French entomologists didn’t agree with him.

What a beauty, Catherine! A Shield Bug never looked so pretty to me ever before.
Remarkably sharp macro with nothing out of place. The plain BG does wonders in highlighting the Bug.
Well done and TFS.

Good morning Catherine,
A superb macro of this Pentatomid Bug.
The semi dorsal POV is great and shows its features with excellent sharpness and colours against a clean Bg.
Nice to view and thanks for sharing this beauty from Samos,
Kind regards,
Ivan

Well captured detailed image of a Eurasian Red shieldbug, Cathy! Good morning! I missed your colorful work! The dept of field as usually covers nicely the entire body of the bug, the focus is precised and the composition is quite pleasant. What I really do not understand is the heavy yellow cast in those morning hours. Very unnatural Cathy! In overcasting days I am usually correcting the effect of the natural cold bluish cast by warming it a bit in post processing, but here in my opinion we have dramatically too much yellow tones. Please check my version of your photograph as a clearer explanation of my thoughts. Have a great day Cathy and Cheers,
George Veltchev

Bonjour Catherine
C'est incroyable la variété de punaises que l'on peut rencontrer, je ne les connais pas bien, mais je les trouve bien belles.
merci pour cette qualité de photo qui nous laisse apprécier les détails du sujet " odorant"

Leyla.

Hi Catherine,

Very beautiful colors of a kind. In general, these species are insects, but very cute I think people are unsympathetic.
Light, sharpness, depth of field, shooting a macro point of view with very great.
Thank you for sharing.

Best Regards,
Mehmet

Hello Catherine,
another beautiful picture of this bug. Fantastic light sharpness details and background. A very nice picture.I find it difficult to see the sexy side of this insect. Regards, Paolo

Hello Catherine, marvelous shot of this famous bug.
Details and colours are wonderful and absolutely natural. It is very interesting that some who do not know nature, always taking studio photographs from bird parks and pet animals can say "unnatural". His WS is not correct (too green), we know better the colors of vegetation on September-October in our region.
TFS and regards,

Bahadır

Bonsoir Catherine,

L'insecte est bien placé dans le cadrage. la prise de vue macro permet de voir les détails et les couleurs du Pentatome meridional. La lumière du matin met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.
