[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today not a beautiful photo but a rare one. It is almost impossible get a wings open shot of this species. I was lucky enough to see this much older specimen basking over the terrace. Hope you will like.

The Common Jay (Graphium doson) is a black, tropical papilionid butterfly with pale blue semi-transparent central wing bands that are formed by large spots. There is a marginal series of smaller spots. The underside of wings is brown with markings similar to upperside but whitish in color. The sexes look alike.

Thank you for viewing.

Namastay haraprasan,
When fresh this is a beautiful and spectacular butterfly but even when worn like this one the Common Jay is striking and you have made a fine capture of it with the open wing pose taken with excellent sharpness and natural colours against the contrasting leafy BG.
Thanks for sharing this rare contribution for TN.
Ivan

Hello Haraprasan,
Waht a specimen!... Congratulaitons!... And colors have awesome quality!... Stunning shot MF!, with the perfect POV!
When you say "not a beatiful photo" in ypur note, you are not taking into account the level of "natural vision" that the picture has ... I think this photo is very good because of that!
Regards, TFS

Hello Haraprasan,
superb catchy colour. The diagonal composition is lively and beautiful.
The non distracting background enhances the view very well.
Well composed shot.

Regards,
Foozi

Beauty takes a back seat then HP! Importance is half of what TN is all about. It doesn't have to be full of splendid colour to be a good image with proper notes!
Bob

Preciosa especie. Lástima del ligero desenfoque.
Saludos haraprasan.

Dear Haraprasan,
I am delighted you show us a rare photo of this Butterfly with good notes - and do not worry about ''perfect technical aspects''...

I am always amazed, how you "Butterfly" masters identify the animals! Having lived for over 20 years in one of the driest areas of South Africa, virtually without flowers/butterflies - I have to admit - that they all looked to me alike until I became a member of TN!

So thank you very much for showing this interesting animal and working on the notes!

Have a nice evening and good Sunday
Warm Greetings
Ingrid

Hello Haraprasan,
I don't agree with the sentence "not a beautiful photo". For me it is, eventhough the specimen is old. The image, by my opinion, is magnificent with beautiful lights, great sharpness, pose and natural colors. Even the name is "Common Jay", I've never seen this species before (or at least I don't remember) - there's something to learn on TN every day! Tfs the great image and I hope you return to the site soon.
Friendly regards, László
