Perennial shrub of Rhamnaceae.

L'Arçot, espí negre, garboller o trencaolles (Rhamnus lycioides) és una espècie de planta amb flor.
Es un arbust amb espines a la tija, de fulla persistent de 1 a 2 m d'alt. Les fulles són enteres, sèsils, linears-espatulades, reunides en fascicles, de color verd clar. Floreix des de març fins maig amb flors grogues de quatre pètals. El fruit és una drupa esfèrica de color negrós
En la vegetació dels Països Catalans es troba en sols carbonatats en màquies litorals i continentals des del nivell del mar fins els 650 metres
És típic de l'associació botànica anomenada de garric i arçot.
