Here another interesting shaped mushroom species from Epping forest (Essex).

According to our mushroom expert friend Laszlo Kaposvari (Hormon_Manyer) this is a Melanoleuca species. [Subgenus Urticocystis, section Grammopodiae] - either Melanoleuca exscissa or Melanoleuca subpulverulenta. Laszlo stated that it is impossible to determine exact id without microscopic surveying and also mentioned that the only macroscopic difference is, after breaking the flesh of M. exscissa it turns from white to pale brown, while M. subpulverulenta doesn't change color. All other differences are microscopical.

Melanoleuca is a genus of mushrooms in the Tricholomataceae family. Most are small to medium sized, white to brown, with white spores and close gills. They grow directly from the ground, have a nearly flat cap and a tough thin stem. The spores of members of Melanoleuca are ornamented with amyloid warts. They are difficult to identify without a microscope. The name of the genus is derived from the Ancient Greek melano- meaning "black", and leukos meaning "white".

I attached two additional shots as workshops too. By the way, I am thanking so much to Bro Laszlo for all kind explanations and ids:)

TFL and cheers,

Hello MF Bayram,
What a fine photo with these fungi. You have used so nicely the light showing the texture of fungi surface as well as many color tones. Sharpness is very good the whole fungi beeing in focus.
Best regards Siggi

Hello Bayram,
Another fine shot of some interesting looking fungi. Excellent detail and beautiful coloration. I also see some very fine thread-like fungi growing at the base of this mushroom to the left. I have seen similar looking ones here in our area, but don't know the ID.
All three photos give us a wonderful glimpse into the world of fungi, there in Europe. Great work!!
Ron

Hello Bayram,
As usual, a great photo of these nice mushrooms
Excellent light and clarity
Well done my friend
Albert

Bonjour Bayram,
Très belle macro valorisant bien les sujets sous une belle lumière et une excellente profondeur de champ.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
Gérard

Hi Bro,

Fantastic shot of a fantastic species. At least I like Melanoleucas so much, although it's a very difficult genus. Beautiful using of flash, color saturation, sharpness and contrast. Maybe another POV, with both caps being visible, should even be more effective, but the pic is good this way, too - and no matter which species is on it, a debut on TN. :)

It seems like we're real bros - we both have at least one Melanoleuca photo in our galleries. :) Mine is Melanoleuca strictipes, from 2008.

About the possible ID's: I only found Melanoleuca exscissa once in my life, it's quite rare here, while about Melanoleuca subpulverulenta local literature writes: "wasn't detected yet, but most probably existing in our country". I'm glad you found one of these species and presented such a nice photoset. Congrats and tfs.

Friendly regards, László

PS: the small fungi on the leaves are probably Marasmius spp.

Ciao Bayram, great couple of lovely fungi, splendid natural colors, excellent sharpness and wonderful light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Eline emeğine sağlık.Çok güzel ve eğlendirici olmuşlar...
Selamlar...

Merhaba hocam,

PS I have an ID problem:
I posted P. troodica from Cyprus some time ago and now there is an image of an identical lizard species that all say are O. elegans, posted by Michael Cy.
I hope you can sort this out for us!
