[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
During a summer trip to the Kruger National Park, I always love stopping at Lake Panic bird hide near Skukuza. It is best for afternoon photography.

I was just about to pack up and head for camp when this Squacco heron landed on a branch near me. The sun was already low as sunset was fast approaching. With only one single beam of golden light left, the heron stood still for a moment. The shutter speed reading was slow and I concentrated on keeping the camera as still as I could in the low light conditions, just then he decided to turn his head into the last ray of light.......

Hello my neighbour,
Fine picture of this impressive and interesting bird. Love the contrast with the dark green background and the beautiful pose of the bird. May be a little over-exposed white parts of the plumage, but nothing important.
Very pleasant bird-picture!
Kind regards

Hello Sheriff,
Your patience paid off with the opportunity to capture such a beautiful image as the sun was setting. An attractive composition with excellent detail and natural coloration. The dark BG makes your subject really stand out and be noticed. Great work!!
Kruger National Park must be a wonderful place to visit, as I see many gorgeous and interesting images shot there.

Thanks for your kind words on my recent picture, Sheriff.
This is a wonderful image of a Heron spot-lighted by the last rays of the setting sun. You have captured this moment with extraordinary dexterity. The picture is a masterpiece.

Hello Sheriff !
I'm glad you have made your come-back on TN, your pictures are always fantastic. This one makes no exception. I really like the pose of the heron, he looks so proud on his branch. The dark BG makes him stand out as if illuminated by a spotlight. Splendid composition and POV, excellent details, soft natural colors. It can be described in just one word - perfect ! Very well done !

Hi Sheriff.
Perfectly composed and framed picture. Pose of the bird especially its turning of the head are the best for shooting. Details of the bird and twig are great and I like so much blurred leaves as a BG. Thanks for nice picture and kind regards.

hello Sheriff
a great capture of beautiful heron against dark BG and with a very nice focus. coloration, POV/DOF and vertical composition great.
thanks for sharing.
have a good night

Hello Sheriff,

The dark background enhances the impact from the subject, and the details in the plumage are super!
A fine pose with good eye contact, a great feeling of depth in the composition...
A fine natural colour palette!

Hello Sheriff.
This is beautiful heron captured in low light. Excellent details and well exposed plumage in balanced framing/.

Hi Sheriff,

lovely image of the Heron and very sharp. Stands beautifully out against the dark background. You took the image at 500mm, how come that within the photo info it says f5.6, shouldn't it be a min. of 6.3 as this is the min. aperture of the Sigma at this focal length? Anyway, well done, its a great shot.
One Question: How do you like to work with the Sigma 50-500?
