African Sacred Ibis

It breeds in sub-Saharan Africa, southeastern Iraq, and formerly in Egypt, where it was venerated and often mummified as a symbol of the god Thoth.

It has also been introduced into France, Italy, Spain, and the United States (S. Florida).

The African Sacred Ibis occurs in marshy wetlands and mud flats, both inland and on the coast. It will also visit cultivation and rubbish dumps.

Image taken just before Sunset in RAW, ISO640, Aperture priority mode and Spot Metering System.

Hello George,

Well captured, excellent tone and beautiful bird!
You clearly catch the bird that expanded the wing.
It is impressive that the wing compared with the evening sun has reddened and the outside frame of the wing is black.

mikio

Hi George

This is truly a lovely capture, from many points of view.
Firstly, i really like the graceful pose in which you captured this beautiful ibis.
Secondly, the sharpness is excellent and the composition works really well, especially with the subject placed there in the frame.
And third, and actually most of all, i love the low warm light on the bird. That bright patch on its "shoulder" and especially the tint in its wings really turn this ibis into a phoenix.
Absolutely magnificent timing and great execution.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Wonderful image captured in warm sunset light with good details, great sharpness and excellent composition. Well done!

Hello George,
This ibis is not a native bird of Turkiye. But my some friends took photographs it at the end of 2010 near Istanbul. I'd like to see it in nature too. I hope in future.
you are lucky not only for seeing it, but also for taking with a great shot. it looks like a airplain. focus, POV and white balance great. sun light shows it more pretty. nicely composed and presented with good notes.
thanks for sharing.
have a good night and nice weekend my friend

Hello George,
The backlighting in this shot is simply stunning. Exceptional detail shown in each feather, and what a big wingspan this bird seems to possess. Gorgeous colors and just the right exposure. Reminds me somewhat of a Sandhill Crane. Well done!!

Hello George,
this is a real stunner! How I would imagine to have the ability to capture this exciting moment with every aspect of photography so pleasant and perfect. This in-flight is so elegance and the colours are very lively, with the tone and hues, excellent soft blue sky as background.
The diagonal positioning is very effective in designing a purely graphical style. You have really prove yourself to be a good photographer and personally I would so so.
Well done and well presented shot with flying colours.

Regards,
Foozi

Hellow George,
A magnificent image well taken with pinsharpness and great exposure and details, well captured.
erwin....

Lovely details , golden lighting , diagonal composition and a little directional space makes this a pleasant picture to watch.
The wing pattern is amazing. What make you go for this close square format (Aspect Ratio)?.. Personally i feel 16:9 of 4:3 is a better choice for such kind of pictures... well its a personal choice and nothing to do with this good picture

George,

Marvellous POV and lighting. I like the detail and clarity in the action image. You did very well to freeze the action and compose it so well. The clear sky BG also adds to the quality of the posting.
TFS,

Hello George
Another great photo of this beautiful bird, excellent details and colors. Job very well done!
Regards Hedesan

Dear George,
This photo is really impressive; the colours, the light conditions and the composition are perfect. The bird reminds me of an airliner. Very well done! Best wishes, Pambos

Beautiful photo with very good composition, wonderful colours and good sharpness, erodotos

Hi George,
I love the pink and transparency in the wings.
Beside the lovelyness of the shot, this shot is also a perfect description of the pattern of renewal of feathers. The 4 growing feathers are spotted immediatly thanks to the black endings. This clearly demonstrates the precise timing of the growth, as same feathers grows at same spots and same speed of both sides.
TFS
