[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I climed on the roof of my house yesterday to clean the gutters when I saw this wonderful sight on top of the rain water tank and just had to fetch my camera.
These Speckled Pigeons(Columba guinea)are very common in our area. They were previously called Rock Pigeons and I am still batteling to remember the new name.

Taken with the Canon 40D and 100-400 lens at 110mm wich was just close enough for the mother to feel uncomfortable and lift herself to protect the little one. Av priority in RAW with F7.1, ISO400 and SS1/1000

Hi Frans,

You were cleaning your gutters at just the right time. How excited you must have been to discover the nest complete with mother, chick and egg! You took full advantage of a rare opportunity. A marvelous capture of the nest and its occupants with excellent details and beautiful colors. I love the expressions on both faces. Congratulations on this once in a lifetime shot.

Hello Frans,
I grew up with them around but had never seen a nest before. Also did not know that they are not rock pigeons anymore. Wonderful composition - one hatched and one still in the shell with the concerned mother. I enjoy it when there is action or activity. Well done as usual.

This is a great close up of this pigeon and her little chick.A classical scene not often seen,see cleaning gutters does have some good points.Well captured.
PS: What programme do you use to convert RAW to Jpeg? [ If you dont mind me asking ]
