| A European Starling sitting right outside my window on a cold evening here in Stony Brook. It had snowed heavily the earlier day and a few of these birds have managed to take shelter in the crevices of my building. I tried many shots using a tripod and experimented with manual focus too. This one was taken by leaning against the window to stabilise the camera and on manual focus with manual exposure. I don't know if it was the low light or just the lens/camera, but many of my autofocus shots are really not that greatly focused and a handful of manually focused ones have come out much better. I was aiming to get the beak sharply in focus through the D100 viewfinder which I find to be decent. The bird was sitting about 25 feet away. |
