Antenas mais longas que a cabeça e bem visíveis de cima, garras tarsais apicais, antenas com cinco artículos, escutelo em forma triangular, tíbias não armadas com espinhos. Emitem odor desagradável quando ameaçados. No Brasil as subfamílias mais comuns são: Asopinae, Cyrtocorinae, Pentatominae e Phloeinae. Alguns são considerados pragas agrícolas como o tamanjuá frade (Solubea poecila) praga do arroz. Na foto a fêmea protege os filhotes que acabaram de eclodir, é possível ver os ovos vazios ainda aderidos na folha da planta.

Feeders longest than the head, and can be easily seen from the top, summit tarsal claws, feeders with five joints, triangle shapped back structure, legs no armoured by thorns. When threatened they eject a smelly liquid. In Brazil the most common Sub-Families are: Asopinae, Cyrtocorinae, Pentatominae e Phloeinae. Some are crop plagues as the tamanjuá frade (Solubea poecila) affecting rice crops. In this photo the adult female protect the offsprings that hatched the eggs. The shell stays fixed on the plant leaf.
