The Kea is a large olive-green parrot found in the alpine areas of the South Island of New Zealand. Its common name derives from the Maori word for the screeching sound it makes and its scientific name is latin for "noteworthy". Kea have beautiful orange feathers on the undersides of their wings and a long hooked beak used for eating both animals and plants. Kea are quite intelligent, noted for being quite adept puzzle-solvers. They are also very mischievous, earning them the nickname "the clown of the mountains".

Brilliant close up of this species. thanks for sharing.

Hi Nathalie,

the composition would be okay, in my opinion, but the bird doesn't stand out from the background as it should to do.A tone or contrast issue i believe. The species that you introduce here to us is however quite interesting, but it's a pity that a note concerning it is completely missing.Frankly it would have been appreciated.I made a WS to try to bring better out the main subject from the BG, hoping you don't mind.
