This is an excellent pic! I really like how the monarch butterfly really stand out with it's vibrant orange colours. Thankyou also for the information about the milkweed plant. This plant also grows here in Australia, and thanks to your note, I now know what it is :P
Well composed and framed. Excellent job!

Nice and artful shot Cathy. Great colors and wonderful exposure. Composition is very good. Well done & TFS!
Cathy, these butterflies are beautiful and colorful, and you did a great job.
I do enjoy colors and contrast. Vivid shades and great lighting. Maybe I'd not let the butterfly in the center; I guess I'd try something in accordance with the rule of thirds, but that's just a preference.
Apart form these opinions, this is an excellent capture.

Hi Cathy, very interesting notes and you show off the Milkweed plant and the butterfly very well, thank you. And reading Manyee's notes I say this one is a female, I must look out for them now.
We have had ONE plant for the last 4 years, but this weekend we finally pulled it out as it was one long stringy stalk, so I must get a new plant or 2 for this summer. I find it hard when there are too many caterpillars on the plants and I have to get rid of some of them. I must check the eggs more often.
Good photo, thank you, it is well done.

That looks familiar. : )
That shot is so sharp. The exposure is just right, and the composition is beautiful. I love those seedpod "balls" of the milkweed plant. I also like the frame. I think the black frame really brings out the black lines found in the monarchs' wings. Well done and TFS. : )
