[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hallo TN-Experts.
A few days ago I went for in walk in the forest.
On a thistle I recognised this black/red insect.
It had a long sting at his underpart and with this it sting into the thistle.
I have no idea what this is and what it was doing.
I also don't found something in the internet.
Perherps you know?
Please tell me - and also your critiques. Thanks.

Hi Sabine. Nice picture of an ichneumonidae wasp. It was laying eggs into some larva ( probably a weevil larva, if it was in a thistle head) . There are many species, and I would not venture to go as far as to suggest a species. The ovipositor is specialized to drill into plants (sometimes even trees) to reach the living host inside.
Excellent photo, a very interesting capture.

Hi Sabine,This one really interesting and really beautiful.TFS

Danke.

Nice shot Sabine,
Another busy night. No time for proper critique.
Well captured, well worth the smiley.
Thanks for posting
