Doa raspa (Druce, 1894)

Hello friends,

Trying to find the ID of a moth whose photo Sergio (Flashpoint) gave me today; I found incidentally the ID of this another strange moth photographed by me last week in a nearby forest.

This is a "fresh individual" just emerging from the chrysalis you can see in the photo.

I think this is the first time this species is in TN.

In fact it is a moth first time I've seen and I can found very little information on the web about this insect.

Hello Jesús,
A superb species of moth made even more attractive by the fact that it is freshly emerged (great to see the pupal case and the cocoon), and that you have presented it so well with excellent sharpness, colours and lighting against a nice contrasting BG.
However I belive that Doa raspa is a noctuid moth found in Central America. This one looks like it belongs to the Arctiidae family but I can't fine an ID.
Thanks and have a good Sunday,

WAUWH Jesus this is super !!!
so good details and nice light
the sharpness and colours are so beautiful
i like this picture very much
thanks for the picture
greeting lou

Well.....Tokina AT-X 100 Pro-D Macro ..Hm ..a new toy..for the boy he he Jesus, congratulations the result with your current camera set up is of course spectacular. Love the gentle contrast the smooth colors and the use of fill in flash ...something you've learn from me obviously ;) But wait a minute ...this is not simply a brilliantly executed capture ...this is far more than that. The image clearly demonstrate an important cycle of the moth life, the magical transformation which probably took place minutes ago! Well done this image is like milestone of the Treknature's base...learning about nature true photography ...or the opposite ...still confused ;) Have a blessed week all of you there(family&friends)

Hi Jesus,
Very very interesting and nice photo moth. Excellent detail and perfectly sharp photo.
Lovely natural colours.
Very good work.
Regards Jiri.

Saludos: J. Ignasi.

Hello Jesus,
What an amazing scene you offer to us with this "formidable" shot. Perfectly taken technically and shown in an artistical manner. I wonder also about the kind of net around the cocon..
And what fine wing- patterns and color this moth has!
Bravo again!
Kind regards
