Hello friends, in the title the words
« headfirst descent » it is in the
below notes that i have found it.

I was in A (aperture) mode, ISO1000.
fully zoomed 50mm (35mm eq:75mm)
with 75% of cropping to have it closer
and specially to remove the feeder
that is at the bottom of the image.

from Columbia University in the City of New York website

« Grey Squirrels are highly adapted for
climbing trees – they have tough curved claws,
and the ability to reverse their hind foot
180 degrees to permit headfirst descent.

Gray squirrels are excellent climbers and
can leap considerable distances using
powerful hind limbs. Tails are used for
balance when running and leaping between trees,
and held over the back of a resting animal. »

Merci

Asbed

PS:thanks for visiting my gallery! Appreciated it!

Great action shot. The only thing I think you could have done is crop it a bit. I love the shades to the squirrel and the background is perfect with your DOF. A cool shot Asbed. TFS Trevor

Great timing Asbed!
Nice mid-air dorsal view of a Grey Squirrel taken with excellent sharpness and natural colours. I like the tail position here and the OOF natural BG shows the squirrel up well.
Thanks and enjoy your Sunday,
Ivan

great timing, excellent capture Asbed, congratulations !

Personally for this picture I prefer another composition in a vertical frame, to give more dynamic movement for the subject,

have a good day,

ciao, tino

Hello Asbed,
Fantastic photo in all aspects, although I should have prefered a vertical composition with more space in front of the squirrel. Perfect timing!
Regards,
Peter

Bonjour Asbed,

Anne
