|Most of the time Hairy woodpeckers will let you photograph them. I once saw one sniffing the tree it was pecking on. They do use smell, but I'm not sure for what. I think to sniff out insects. I should mention that this one with the red on his head is male.|

The tree and the leaves are framing well the butterfly. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the hairy Woodpecker. The late afternoon light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
