|In my last post I termed these birds a thief. Here comes the proof. |
I was standing under a tree bside the Hyeongsan river to take some BIF shots, especially of this gray heron. It seemed undecided about where to feed. Sometimes standing on the water & sometimes going to the other side of the river bank at low levels - so unusual of the big herons.
I understood the matter when I heard an alarm call - the - beating of the golden retreat of this bird. Behind it was , not sure which one, a small bird of the size of a magpie or a dove (or whatever). The heron was at low levels & hence slow. The tail chaser was also cursing it, albeit with proportionate low volume. They made a couple of low passes over my head.
Given the perpendicularity of the situation - I abstained from trying to get both the thief & the police in one frame, and focused on the former. This is the result. I have cropped rather heavily - so that - I can show you the effect of dread on the eyes, after being charged for herony felony. Must have sneaked into a passerine nest.
Due to the limitation of TN the picture quality is not good here. A slightly better version is posted here
