Crested Serpent Eagle
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|This is a Crested Serpent Eagle (Spilornis cheela). The photo was taken very early in the morning with the sun still not up while on way to a new birding spot in the valley and this was a surprise catch on the mountain road. This was sighted on a road side tree and the photo was taken from the car window. The valley forms the background for this shot. We came very near to the bird suddenly but that menat that it flew off equally fast after noticing our presence.|
The Crested Serpent Eagle is one of the common Eagles of the Indian Forests and can be easily reconised in flight by the white and black bars on the tail. They have a crest of black hair on their head which is not seen in this picture.

A fantastic bird. Your pic is a bit dark but nevertheless we see this beautiful bird in a clear way.
A Good capture with eye contact, colours and detail. The BG colours is stunning. Being near to the bird I would have used a flash.
