The Chimney Sweeper (Odezia atrata) is a moth of the family Geometridae. It is found throughout Europe.
The wingspan is 23–27 mm. The length of the forewings is 12–15 mm. The moth flies from June to August. The moth flies during the day, preferably with bright sunshine. The larva feed mainly on pignut.

I have searched for more informations here on TN, but to my amazement I have not found one upload of this species. So this is probably the first posting of this moth here on TN.

Der Schwarzspanner (Odezia atrata) ist ein Schmetterling (Nachtfalter) aus der Familie der Spanner (Geometridae). Im schwäbischen Sprachraum wird er auch als Kaminfegerle bezeichnet.
Merkmale:
Die Falter erreichen eine Flügelspannweite von 23 bis 27 Millimetern und besitzen zeichnungslose schwarze Vorder- und Hinterflügel. Lediglich die Fransen der Vorflügel sind an der Flügelspitze (Apex) weiß. Die Form Odezia atrata f. nigerrima hat schwarze Apexfransen.
Lebensweise:
Die Falter sind tagaktiv und können häufig auf Blüten beobachtet werden.
Verbreiung:
Der Schwarzspanner ist in Europa weit verbreitet. Imaginalhabitate sind Grabenränder, feuchte Wiesen, Auen, Moorwiesen und Moore, Teich- und Seengebiete, sowie Wald- und Bergwiesen. An trockenen Orten und in der warmen Ebene ist die Art selten oder kommt gar nicht vor.
Flug- und Raupenzeiten:
Der Schwarzspanner fliegt in einer Generation von Ende Mai bis Ende Juli. Die Falter sind sowohl nacht- als auch tagaktiv und werden gelegentlich auch am Licht beobachtet.

Als ich nach weiteren Informationen auf TN sehen wollte, habe ich zu meinem Erstaunen festgestellt, dass bisher noch kein Upload gelistet war. So ist dieses hier wahrscheinlich eine neue Spezies auf TN.

Lieber Helmut,
Ein interessantes Bild. Was für ein hübscher "Kaminfeger"! Ich glaube , dass ich diesen Falter auch schon fotografiert habe, jedoch mit geschlossenen Flügeln. Gezeigt habe ich ihn aber nicht auf TN. Könnte schon ein First sein. Der Schatten rechts ist wohl ein zweites Exemplar?

Dear Helmut,

No doubt, the focus and sharpness you have got on the subject is brilliant but in this typical case, a vertical framing might have enhanced the overall appeal of the picture immensely IMHO!

The positioning of the dark beauty on a lovely flower along with some blurred strange thing in the right half of the picture do affect the quality of the picture. This thing takes a lot of attention of mine even if if I tried to avoid it. Just my personal way of looking at this shot, so kindly don't mind.

Other than that, this is a lovely work!

Hello Helmut,
A fine sharp capture of O. atrata. The POV, natural colours and contrast with the flower are excellent, but I agree with Paras, a vertical composition would have been better here, as the approaching moth is too much OOF to be included.
