[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Life in the country has many advantages (and only one lack - :) - absence of Internet and TN).

This spring and summer I have possibility to live (and work) in countryside at our garden cooperative. There almost are not people at all. Only on the weekends owners of the garden plots visit them. Just these days we go to the city to renew our food and other small household things.

Due to people absence wild creatures around feel so free. And various animals visit our garden. This summer hedgehogs, frogs and snakes are our frequent visitors.

These days I have met few species of snakes. But only this beauty gave me a chance to take an appropriate photo. I have no opportunity to select POV, framing, etc. This shot is as is (only cropped a bit).

I think this is a kind of whip snakes. I am not snake expert absolutely. And I also hope this is not venomous species. Until now in Odessa region venomous species have not been met at all.
___

Thanks to Razvan Zinica (Zetu) ID of the snake is ascertained. It is Caspian Whipsnake (Caspian Whipsnake).

I have never captured a snake with my camera so far, Alexei. In addition to my aversion to these creatures, I never even saw a snake while looking for wild life!
You have captured yours with your usual professional ease and expertise. The sharpness is phenomenal.
Hope you are keeping well.

Hello Alex,
Interesting to read your note. It's true that nature is a lot more interesting where there are just a few humans around. You have been lucky to see this not venomous snake (somebody told me that if the eyes are round, they are not venomonous), even if on your picture it doesn't look so friendly..
As usual excellent sharpness and and interesting mix of light and shadow.
Thanks too to have visited my gallery, it's very kind.
Take care!
Anne

Witaj Alex,

Hallo Alexei
I have not seen you around on the site for such a long time and while browsing through the gallery I came across the last photo you posted in June. I do understand that you do not always have the oppertunity to have internet access and that your work comes first.
A snake is not a subject that I am used to see in your gallery and that is the reason why this image special. The clarity of this photograph is just great with details beautifully seen, especially of the snake's scales and its beautiful eyes. I agree with Helmut that the light is indeed splendid. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna
I hope to see another posting from you soon, but in the meantime I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and may 2013 bring you all that you hope for.

Hello Alexei!!

Great detail here. The shadow works well as the snake is coming out. Great detail on the scales. What texture! I too, would love to know how long this guy is.

Hope all is well,

Chris
