Something different today for the many dedicated plant lovers on TN. The various colours present in the plant itself is the reason for trying to take this and posting it.

This photo has been taken in the canopy of a thick forest where usually this grows in abundance as undergrowth. Used high ISO instead of flash to preserve colours as much as possible. After sharpening some noise reduction has been applied.

As I understand this is the Eranthemum Roseum. Rosy Eranthemum is a perennial herb growing up to 1-2 meters high. Oppositely arranged oblong lance-like leaves are 10-20 cm long. The leaf stalk is 1-3 cm long. Blue-violet flowers occur either singly in the leaf axils or in a spike 10-15 cm long, at the end of branches. Bracts are prominent whitish with green nerves. Flowers have 5 petals and two stamens emerging from the flower tube. The flowers have a strong fragrance and fade to a rosy color. It is commonly found on shady forests of the hills of Western Ghats. Flowering: November-April.

Hello Himanshu,
A very fine and charming picture of this beautiful flower with this amazing blue coloration fading to red when fading. I think it was a god choice not to use the flash here, this flower living probably in the shade and having such a subtle coloration. Interesting!
Kind regards
Anne
