...so....after finding a way closer into the Turnbull Wildlife Refuge, I all of a sudden became much braver overnight...and on Sunday parked my car on a small siding..then walked almost a mile onto the Columbia Plateau Trail. The trail is t
he only place one can walk upon...and the ground is gravel but still fairly even. It was after 20 years ago a railroad track.

This new road less traveled made all the difference. Now I could get right into the natural areas. This image of Canadian Geese was one of my very first sites as I kept on walking. I took a walkie talkie to keep in touch with Jane, as there is no cell phone reception out here....nor other people...although I could make out footprints from others who have trekked this way. It does go for 130 miles...

The only thing I did wrong was to walk too far...and my bones ached...I turned around and realized now I had to do it all over again going back and then up the hill...and so Jane talked me up as my nerves were a bit jittery. I did however capture many images and made many mental notes on how to better prepare...perhaps even bring my trail bike down here and pretend I can ride it?:-)

Hallo Bob
I welcome you back too! And what a lovely image you have here today! I looooooooooooove the golden sunlight in this scene, just as much as I looooooooooooove the tranquility in the scenery. The waterbirds looks so peaceful and at ease, and I agree with Luciano that the grasses makes a great border for this very natural scenery. Thanks for taking the time and effort along with the aches and pains to capture this image and to share it with us. Best regards.
Anna

Hello Bob, and greetings from northeastern Ohio.
I'm thrilled that you were able to get so far back into the bush once again, and even more thrilled that you have presented to us this wonderful treat from your adventure.
The amber lighting gives a feel of warmth and peacefulness. Even the Canada Geese seem to be enjoying the atmosphere before deciding to take their daily swim.

Hello Bob,
Happy to see a picture from you again.
Your solitary walks came back to your mind with this fine picture. Intersting note going with this shot full of atmosphere and shown with a very subtle light. What a sight all these canadian Geese together and I love the point of view you have chosen, behind the grasses in the front. Most beautiful!
Thanks and kind regards
Anne

Hi Bob! Hope you are keeping well.
Since you are not posting new pictures these days, I have found the opportunity to react to this picture you posted some months ago.
It is a lovely sight of these birds enjoying the sunshine in the peace and quiet of their surroundings.
Thanks for your kind words on my butterfly picture. They mean a great deal to me, my friend.
Keep well.
