Darter at Rietvlei Nature Reserve near Pretoria.

The African Darter (Anhinga rufa ), sometimes called the Snakebird, is a water bird of sub-Saharan Africa.

The African Darter differs in appearance from the American Darter most recognisably by its thin white lateral neck stripe against a rufous background colour.

The male is mainly glossy black with white streaking, but females and immature birds are browner.

Hi Deon,
Beautiful pose of the darter, great colors and exposure control (nice details on the blacks, too). I especially like the composition and the great shallow depth of field created by f/7,1. Truly a photo to be proud of. Bravo!
Best regards, László
