If i remember properly, it was in 7th standard when we got to learn about the rest of the world.. for the first time in great details. And as a calm, imaginative, Nature-loving school girl, i dreamt of each and every mountain, river, desert, ocean, island.. that came across me. I read about them very minutely and wanted to know more. Internet was not there. Our sources were our teachers, different books, newspapers and maps. There was a big map-book that i had. Pressing my finger against different locations and imagining myself with that river/ mountain/ forest etc used to be one of my favourite timepass :)

Those days..!

And here i am, now.. with Mississippi!! 'THE' Mississippi :) How well and how long i had been familiar with this river. It's different that we never met.. until and unless on this day when i took this shot. At Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park. People, i loved Tennessee!

Mississippi is a major river of United States. Along with Red Rock, Jefferson and Missouri rivers, it makes the LONGEST river-system in North America and the FOURTH LONGEST in the word. Here we have ignored upper Jefferson, upper Mississippi and Ohio river as well.. otherwise, this river-system was MORE big ! :)

You can meet Mississippi at Memphis also. Memphis is well-known for it's Mississippi. But near Memphis the water is not this blue and this clean. Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park is a piece of beauty.. for those who admire Nature and solitude.

Thanks for viewing. Happy to share my first interaction with this lovely river :)

Hello Ruby!
I´m so happy for you!I also had a chance to know this fantastic river in New orleans, but I see, by this great image, that you had better chance than I, because this landscape is much prettier than the ones I saw.In fact your pic here is terrific and you choose the best angle! So well done!
I hope to see more images like that from your trip through the New World.
Best wishes from,
aNa

Hi Ruby,
Beautiful landscape with the 2 blue layers (river, sky) contrasting the rocks very well. Awesome scene with spectacular composition and lovely white balance. Love it!
Best regards, László

Hello Ruby,
Like you, I believe many people can remember their first view of this well known historic river. I remember the first time I saw the name "Mississippi River" on a roadside sign as Rosie and I were traveling, it made me perk up and take notice.
Your photo shows the Mighty Mississippi off quite well in this attractive presentation. The pretty blue sky is certainly an eyecatcher and the river itself looks peaceful and equally as beautiful. I'm thrilled you are finding many interesting sights and sounds while you are here visiting in the US.
Ron

Hello Ruby.
Love the composition and the contrasting colors and details are amazing. Nice light and good balance in this finely composed shot.
