The darters or snakebirds are mainly tropical waterbirds in the family Anhingidae. There are four living species, three of which are very common and widespread while the fourth is rarer and classified as near-threatened .

This image is dedicated to Ruby Sarkar a great person and Nature lover.

Hello George,
Beautiful lighting, great perspective, the little splash breaking the reflection...Congrats on a job well done.

Brilliant photo with perfect light, sharpness and a wonderful POV

Hello George,
Excellent capture with beautiful light and colours, lovely composition with nice in flight posture.

Hi George,
Good afternoon dear neighbour! :-) I'm glad to see your new pic, on the high level of aesthetics and technicality we used to get from you. Breathtaking composition with fantastic use of available lights, excellent reflection, perfect settings of shutter speed and great timing. Incredible harmony, peace and pleasancy. An absolute stunner image, and although I know you don't care about points at all, apologize for not giving any smiley (I depleted my stock for today). Congrats for the majestic photo.
Best regards, László

Hello George,
A wonderful almost silhouette image of this inflight Snakebird. Your fast 1/1250 shutter speed froze the action perfectly as is evident by the water droplets and sharp focused wing feathers. Love how the eye seems to glow even in this low warm lighting.
It's funny I had never even heard of these unusual birds before joining TN. I have now seen many images and am always intrigued by their unique features and swimming abilities. Even from your thumbnail photo I could see this was a special shot with the attractive reflection as a bonus.
Hope you don't mind, but I just had to play with the lighting a bit.
PS. Today is Easter and it is raining outside, but things are finally starting to warm up a little here in Ohio. Hope you are experiencing pleasant weather over there in Africa.

Hi George,
A Great shot that emphasizes the word "tranquility" even when the Darter is in-flight. Perfect colouration of the water from the fore ground upwards. The water splash and reflection of the bird is stunning. Using an ISO800 setting to increase your shutter speed and freezing the Darter in-flight was a great choice my friend.
Best regards,

Ciao George, fantastic action shoot, fashinating reflections, splendid light and colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello George

On this great photo of the darter's take-off flight
we see your signature, always magical lights,
I personally love Ron's WS where it gives
warmer tones to your magical light and colors,
fine POV & DOF, great focus, sharpness, details, TFS

整個光線飽和 看起來很美

brilliantly timed photograph of the species. excellent colors and shade play. very huge bird. good work.

Hello George

Super timing to freeze the darter just after a botched hunting attempt or maybe takeoff..But symbolically it also conveys optimism by the upward trajectory and direction of its flight from the dark sullen greys to the bright moody yellows. A nice and Apt dedication to a passionate nature lover.

Hello George
Wonderful to see a pic from You and what a pic.Great timing, fantastic colours and light.Great sharpness and reflections.Thank You.
Have a good week!
Best regards

wow George! is that for me?? am so honoured, my friend. i wonder if a Nobel Prize could bring me this much of happiness!! and trust me, am not exaggerating. THANK YOU! :)
not seen this bird in my life, of course.. and a very good moment that you have captured. good POV, good play of shades. but i wish, some more light was there.. so that i could see the bird clearly. but still i love this one. 'bird in flight' was always a favourite subject of mine.. when well equipped, i too want to try that.. someday :)
take care, George.
LOVED this gift :)

PS: by the way, where's my Red-billed Oxpecker, George? see, i have not forgotten! :)
