argiolus Female

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Suddenly we have some warm spring weather in England and it has come at just the right time to encourage a lot of activity within the small population of Holly Blues (Celastrina argiolus) in my garden. This female took a long break this afternoon from egg-laying and settled conveniently for me to take a few pictures.
This butterfly is very widespread, as you will see from its gallery. However, it is always such a great pleasure to see them again at the start of the summer that I felt it right to share it with you. |
