Class: Insecta

Order: Lepidoptera

Family: Nymphalidae

Subfamily: Nymphalinae

Genus: Melitaea

Species: M. didyma

The Spotted Fritillary (Melitaea didyma) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found primarily in Southern and Central Europe.
The wingspan is 35-50 mm. The butterfly flies from April to September depending on the location.
The larvae feed on various plants, including Linaria, Plantago lanceolata, Veronica, Centaurea jacea and Digitalis purpurea.

Descrizione

È tipica dell'Europa media e meridionale.

Hello Luciano,
a well-exposed image, not easy agaisnt sky, you used fillin flash well here.
Nice natural colors, good sharpness, we can see every detail very cleraly.
Maybe a little more contrats for a more "pressure" on the image.
Well done, mf.

Regards
Gert

Bonsoir Luciano,

Hi Luciano,
Astonishing low PoV, perfect use of flash (as always from you), irresistable composition... In my opinion one of the best photos on the whole TrekNature site. Gorgeous, fantastic, unbelievable... The art of macro photography. You rule.

Hi, Luciano
This is an image that is almost impossible with a DSLR with a larger sensor, because the combination of depth of field and field of view achieved here is impossible without selecting a very small aperture (and usually losing the necessary shutter speed). This is a very well visualized and executed image, and I appreciate the "green knees" and discomfort that are required to get this type of photograph ;-)
Best wishes, Nigel.

Pippo

dear luciano,
composition and sharpness is very interesting.
point of view is excellent.
it is as a story book's paints.
best wishes,
