[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'd seen a hoopoe in our neighbourhood last year but never seen it again when I went out with my camera hunting for it. Recently my wife who goes for walk every morning told me of an interesting bird with a bunch of hair on it's head. It visits a nearby grass patch every morning but then I am at office.

This morning armed with two cameras I set out and ws on time to get it. It flew up a nearby date palm on median of the road. Crossed over and despite at a difficult angle and no space to move around plus palm fronds obstructing could manage a few shots.

Great capture, the bird is placed well into the frame, great sharpness, pleasing composition and beautiful shallow depth of field. Bravo! Hopefully your wife tells you again if she sees something interesting. :-)

I have been none active the last few weeks due to various reasons but I am back and it is a pleasure to see one of your beautiful images on the gallery. The Hoop-hoop is a lovely bird and I currently have 2 that I often see in our garden.

The African hoopoe must be one of the best-loved birds in Southern Africa. Its habit of raising its fan-shaped crest now and then gives it an air of comic appeal and its short, delicate footsteps and nodding head make it look a bit like a fussy old lady on a shopping expedition.
