Today another shots from my aquarium. Last few days I was walking to The Garden with net and jar and hunting for new animals. Yesterday we went to Interstone with Joanna and after that we were walking in Zdrowie Park. There is many ponds, smaller and bigger, full of life. I collected three or four new species of water plants and many interesting animals - crustaceans, snails, larvae of insects. Very successful trip :-) Biggest fun for me is to sit down after this kind walk and watch which new animals swim in my tank. Even my wife tried yesterday to watch for few minutes all these 'terrible things' ;-)

1) Asellus aquaticus - my favourite underwater animal. They're just fantastic - I could watch them for hours. Always in the move, eating, running, copulating. Very interesting and funny.

2) Cloeon dipterum - or something similiar. This time view from another POV with good visible details on bottom side of body of this larva.

3) Stylaria lacustris - believe me or not, but this is close relative of earthworm :-) Quite small - about 10mm lenght and 1mm in diameter. Very dynamic animal.

4) Cladocera and Copepoda [Cyclopoida] - most popular dwellers of all aquariums. Well known as food for fishes, these two are core element of plankton. About 1-2mm long.

I hope I identified my animals well - if not TNers will correct me :-)

Hello Greg!
Wonderful and unusual captures.I liked presentation, instruction and composition a lot.TFS..:-)

Very different and difficult series Greg, it is good to see some of the tiny animals of our cold northern waters, they are well seen for such tiny beasties, well done.
How did you set up the shots?

Hi, I think you are right with the IDs. Great shots - patrticularly I like Stylaria - it's a very spectacular oligochaet, though small :-) The only thing to improve would be, in my opinion, to capture Stylaria entirely against dark background. Anyway, great shots. TFS! Michal

So you're all ready for winter now Greg? "Terrible things!"?? Poor Joanna. You show off the 4 photos well Greg.
My favourite: Um! Umm! Oh the one on the high diving board ready to dive off. He's a game brave character, shows no fear. Asellus aquaticus - good name too. "Kia ora Asellus."

Hi Greg,

I agree with Rob that the creatures can be seen very well, they are after all very tiny. Good series and indeed very different than the usual. Thanks for being different! How's the sky in Poland? Can you see the eclipse??

Regards,
Pieter
