Common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis)
I think it is a most common lizard in Europe (at least in Croatia, especially near the sea areas). It is also well established in North America and there is known as European wall lizard.
They can grow little bit more than 20 cm in length (tail included), males are slightly larger than females. Females lay eggs (3-12). Its coloration is generally brownish or greyish, and may occasionally be tinged with green (like this beauty on my photo).
Interesting thing about the tail: when captured by its tail, it deliberately drops it and runs away. Dropped tail keeps wiggling for a while and helps to distract the predator and allow the lizard to escape. The broken area begins to heal and they grow a new tail although in slightly different color than the old one.
Lizards eat flying and ground insects along with many types of spiders. They are very quick predators and can be seen jumping to catch flying prey. They also eat fruit and berries.

Hi Dejan,
great and original shot with nice details on the lizard. Like
Pierre

What a luxury to observe, with much detail, the colors of each scale of this Podarcis muralis, as these striking rectangular plates and turquoise; alternating pass over the belly. Or lemon green spots of the upper jaw, neck and spine. A truly admirable focus, great composition where the distribution of character; rocks and empty; give perfect sense of height and depth. Great job,
all my congratulations to you, Dejan.
