[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The American kestrel (Falco sparverius), also known in some areas as the "Sparrow Hawk" due to its small size although technically it is a Falcon and not one of the Hawk Family. Found mainly in the Americas, from Alaska to the Southern end of South America it has been seen as a vagrant in Europe. Their prey range from large insects to small mammals and have been seen preying on small birds although most of their prey is taken on the ground.

This particular captive bred bird was photographed in the New Forest in the UK.

Thank you, Captivelight

Did appreciate your notes too.
Most kind regards from Canada from Mario.

Hello Miles- I am watching your posting picture first time here in TN, after my joining in 2012. Very beautiful presentation of this "Kestrel". Under wings light attracted me a lot, as well as fan shaped tail. Very good sharpness and well managed BG. Thanks for sharing. Regards- Srikumar

Hello Miles,
Fantastic presentation of this American Kestrel in splendid light, beautiful colours and excellent sharpness. The pose with stretched wings and tail is very attractive. Directly into my favorites.

Maravillosa luz y espectacular foco en este "halconcito colorado" como lo llamamos en mi país, Argentina. Felicitaciones, Miles...
