Hipparchia parisatis, (Kollar, 1849)
Turkish Name : Beyaz Bandlı Karamelek Kelebeği.
Distribution in Turkey: Middle Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia and Northeast.
Distribution in the world: Turkey, Armenia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Turkestan, Uzbekistan, Tadzhikistan, the Palestinian Territories, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and India.
Living Area: Above sea level, lives at altitudes of 1000-2500 meters. Local in dry, stony and barren places and scrubby areas in steppes.
Flight time: June - August.
Food Plants of the caterpillar: Unknown
Description-Notes: Type Locality "Iran (Shiraz, Perspolis). A ground butterfly. Timid, flying fast. This is a hot dry habitat specialist. Very large butterfly. Undersides of both wings are finely striated in brown. Each wing has two yellow-ringed postmaedian eyespots; those on hidwing are smaller. Note the irregular gray postmedian lines on both wings. Male upperside dark vandyke-brown; costa preapically, lower half of termen on fore wing narrowly and termen of hind wing more broadly bluish grey, crossed by the dark veins and touched with brown at the apices of the latter; fore wing with a pre-apical black spot pupilled with white, another plain black spot in interspace 2, aud two intermediate white dots ; hind wing with a subanal white-centred black spot. Underside pale sepia-brown, irrorated with numerous white striae, the discal and tornal area only of the fore wing without striae ; both wings crossed by a highly sinuous, broad, white discal band, inwardly defined by a dark brown line, subterminal and terminal narrow brown, bands; the round black spots as on the upperside, but more distinct and ringed with yellow; hind wing with an additional ocellus in interspace 5. Antennae, head, thorax and abdomen concolorous with the wings above, paler below. Sex-mark a large dark brown patch of specialized scales on basal half of fore wing. Female: Similar, the greyish-white marginal borders broader.
Wingspan: 60-64 mm long.
Origin of the name: Parisatis (Greek, Latin, mythological) - Paris + satis - quite enough - "Satisfied by Paris", t. E., One of the goddesses (Aphrodite), which is beautiful, Paris handed podbroshennooe Eris apple of discord (Nekrutenko, 1990).

Very beautiful macro in fine sharpness and details. The whole photo is in nice matching colours. It all looks very natural. Taken from a good POV in an attractive composition.
Hello Sayfi - "White-edged Rockbrown"....appropriate name! We can see white edge clearly and it's resting on Rock. Nice timing. As usual a beautiful Butterfly picture with useful NOTE.
