[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
At long last a sign that the local population of Peacocks is reappearing after the hard winter a few years ago, when they where very abundant.

This one was feeding on a buddleia bush specially planted in my garden for the butterflies to feed on.

This butterfly is common in Britain and Ireland except in the N. Visits garden flowers. Adult flies July-September and again in spring after hibernation. Under-wings are smoky-brown but the maroon upper-wings have bold eye markings. Caterpillars feed on common nettle. Wingspan 60mm

Image has been cropped and a high pass filter at 1.8 applied in Adobe CC2015

Hi William,it's a lucky thing to find a buddleja plant,we are sure to have some butterfly to take immediatly...ehehe...great capture of this peacock, very common in my country too but still one of the most beautiful, bright colors and very good details.Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bill,
even after a couple of dry days there is a distinct lack of any variety of butterfly here, hopefully the warmer weather promised for the coming week will rectify the situation.
It`s always a pleasure to see the Peacock, with those nice clear markings this is a fine example.
Best regards Les.
