Two stems with buds of this parasitic desert plant break through the sand covered here by broken limestone. The diameter of each emerging plant is about 6 cm.

The WS shows the same plus a more mature specimen with some open flowers.

Thanks for sharing this Cistanche salsa prior to opening. It must be a very hardy plant to grow in these harsh conditions. Nicely composed, nice and sharp with true colours.
