|(Bartramia longicauda) Taken at Carden Alvar during research on grassland birds. Alvars are a very rare ecosystem, only found around the great lakes region (North America) and in parts of northern Europe. Alvars are home to rare species of plants, Insects and birds. Carden is well known for being the strong hold of loggerhead shrikes (Lanius ludovicianus) in Ontario.|

What a wonderful image of this attractive Upland Sandpiper. Posed perfectly on the fence post while showing us it's beautiful plumage and unique body features in excellent detail and natural color. Great eye contact and nice blurred BG. Well done!!
