After the nice presentation of Luciano last week of the Abyssinian Roller, here my version from Gambia.
I also added information from a different source.

The Abyssinian Roller, Coracias abyssinicus is about 29 cm (40 cm incl. tail streamers).
Northern counterpart of Lilac-breasted Roller, with some overlap in the NE. Apart from whitish forehead and chin, adult’s head and underparts are pale blue; lacks lilac face and throat of Lilac-breasted Roller, and tail streamers are much longer. Adult lacking tail streamers and juveniles are smaller than European Roller, with ultramarine (not black) flight feathers and blue (not greenish) wing coverts.

Habitat: Arid savannas; also around human habitation.

Status: Common resident and intra-African migrant.

Voice: Raucous ‘aaaarhh’ when perched; ‘rack’ in flight; intensifying ‘ga-ga-ga-ga-gaaaa-gaaaa-gaaaa’ in aerial display.

Source: Birds of Africa, South of the Sahara by Ian Sinclair and Peter Ryan.

A prize picture of this Roller perched on a broken wood stump, Peter. Truly natural colours on the bird shot against the blue sky.
Yet another great catch from Gambia.

Hello Peter,
It is a pleasure viewing this photo. It is really a splendid capture. Amazing sharpness and excellent clarity. Outstanding colors. The light and details are great. Very nice colorful specie. The European Roller migrating to Europe is very shy. I hope to get some images in the summer.....
Thanks for sharing!

Hello Peter,
perfectly seated on a nicely rugged piece of wood in front of nothing but a clear blue sky, you have presented the roller in spectacular grandezza.
Bravo! Thank you,

Ciao Peter, great capture of lovely bird with fantastic colors, splendid sharpness and fine details, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Peter,
Nice species this Abyssinian Roller and nice to see after Luciano's post. Nice blue BG but sometime it's difficult to me when do PP work. Most of the time it gets hallows. Nicely managed border of the bird (smile). Well POV with natural color. Hope one day this species will be in my gallery too.
Thanks for sharing with useful NOTE,
Regards and have a nice Sunday,
