[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I had posted a photo of Tropical Mocking Bird in 2014. This is the second photo of the same bird. J L Ryan
(http://asawright.org/2012/07/creature-feature-tropical-mockingbird-mimus-gilvus/ ) writes about the musical skills of this bird.

Though it is a mocking bird, it does not mimic the calls of other birds. According to Ryan "the talented singer has quite a musical repertoire, which is unique to its species. The enthusiastic and oft repeated melodic phrases are sometimes likened to certain human phrases. The interpretations of these songs are as varied as the places in which the bird is found: southern Mexico to northern South America to the Lesser Antilles. Apart from whistling a tune, the Mockingbird can cluck and wheeze".

Nice picture from your archives, Bala.
The bird's calling posture is indeed very endearing.
Good details on the partially visible plumage.

Hello Bala,
Great shot of this tropical Mockingbird captured in an attractive pose. The detail is excellent and the color tones are true and natural. From what I can see it looks almost identical to our Northern Mockingbird.

Hello Bala – Excellent picture of this Mimus gilvus. Good composition picture showing the bird in full activity (singing).

Technical achievement

• Good focus on the head of the bird
• Good exposure with an appropriate combination of iso speed rating / aperture and speed
• Good depth of field
• Acceptable contrast; nevertheless, should have be more pronounced, mainly in the white colour areas; white colours slightly “burnt”
• Acceptable sharpness
• Acceptable white balance and good colour rendition for the bird
• Good background.

Impact

• Interesting picture showing the bird in full activity; good capture
• Good framing and composition
• Good rendition of the activity of the birds
• Good capture of the eye
• Useful and instructive note

Thank you for the sharing of this interesting picture.

Have a good day.

Philippe
