Saddle-backed bush-cricket (Ephippiger provincialis)
Order: Orthoptera
Family: Bradypodidae

This is one of the biggest European crickets, commnon in southern parts of the continents. The animals live in xerothermic environments hunting for other insects. They are wingless but even with the remnants of wings they posses, the male (pictured here) makes very loud species-characteristic sounds to attract females. There are several species of the genus in Europe with this being the biggest one.

Hello!... what an amazing bush-cricket! I really like the colours - especially the yellow belly. Also, it looks like its front leg has been nibbled off! Great photo and a very interesting note. Thanks!

Good, sharp image Michael. The colors are very nice and the POV is good. Personally I would have liked to see the antennaes in the composition, but that's a minor nit. Well done & TFS!
