Isodontia mexicana -2
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|From my backyard:|
After seeing how other photographers present this Mexican Grass carrying Wasp (Isodontia mexicana (Saussure); Stahlblauer Grillenjäger, Sphecidae, Hymenoptera), I decided to give it another try and look for the wasp in the backyard again. To put a brake on this nervous critter I caught it and kept it in the fridge for a while, then released it on this flower . Better picture? You judge.

Beautiful picture of this insect (I don't have knowledge). Details are great and well DOF. I like its BG too. But personally I would like to frame this insect vertically; giving bit space infront. I'll not keep total flower in the frame because my intension would be to show this insect detailed.
Thanks for sharing,
Yes, better picture. :-) Quite a good one, compo's good, as well as sharpness, while the exposure's even spot on. I also like the spectacular tones and color contrast. Probably, if you give a little more space between the compositional elements (insect + flower) and the edge of the frame, the visual impact would even be stronger. Just a personal opinion, obviously, and a spectacular photo overall.
Kind regards from Ireland, László

Another wonderful shot of this Mexican Grass carrying wasp. The detail is much better on the wasp this time, but I like the diagonal pose of the wasp in the previous shot. Either way, you have done a great job of introducing this interesting insect to us. Well done!!
