Large Cabbage White is now flying around frequently with change in the weather here in Jammu. This pair was frolicking in my school vegetable farm yesterday afternoon. The shot was taken from very close proximity when both butterflies settled on a cauliflower.
Pieris brassicae, the large white, also called cabbage butterfly, cabbage white, cabbage moth (erroneously), or in India the large cabbage white, is a butterfly in the family Pieridae. It is a close relative of the small white, Pieris rapae.
The large white is common throughout Europe, North Africa, Asia even through the Himalayas.

Dear Ram,
a pleasure to see this lively scene of courship from your vegetable garden! Your school yard has become legendary here with your beautiful observations and skilful contributions. The Large Cabbage White, once a common species also in our region, has become quite scarce there after decades of ruthless persecution because of being considered a pest to vegetable gardens. In India, cabbage whites are obviously seen with tolerance and treated with respect, and so you can enjoy pleasant encounters like this one - thank you!
With best regards,
Peter

Hello Ram,
A really lovely picture showing the two Large Cabbage Whites. We see this species quite rarely around here.
Excellent shot!
Kind regards
